NOTICE BOARD
Cambourne Eagles from strength to strength...Our competitive edge (05/02/2010)

The beginning of Season 2009/10 saw the appointment of new management for this highly successful football club, continuing the good work of the previous management and founders of Cambourne Eagles FC.

This year we have pushed forward and built upon our past success. Year on year we have had teams top their leagues and notably our strong u14 squad have seen three consecutive league promotions.

Our club sets a foundation for moving onwards and upwards in the pursuit of a professional career.

We currently have two under 8 boys training with Cambridge United, one in its Centre of Excellence. At under 10 level, we have one boy offered a place at Histon Academy for season 2010/11, 2 boys under going trials with Histon and 3 boys at Cambridge United's development Centres. Similarly the U14's have two boys selected to play for the Cambridge and District representative teams.

The levels of coaching at Cambourne Eagles are of a particularly high standard, with Eagles being the only club in the village that boasts a Level 2 FA qualified coach.

It is on the back of this success that we are now able to celebrate gaining our Charter Standard Status. We are very proud to be one of only a handful of clubs in the area with this status.

When joining Cambourne Eagles, be safe in the knowledge that your chilldren will be trained to a high standard, giving them the head start they need on the road to success.

Cambourne Eagles- an FA Charter Standard Club! (31/01/2010)

Cambourne Eagles have recently been awarded FA Charter Standard status. This exclusive status awarded by the Football Association recognises that the club is well run and sustainable with child protection and safety paramount. It also recognises a commitment to coaching, player and coach development and the raising of standards of behaviour in the game.

To acheive this status we had to demonstrate that all our coaches were at least Level 1 qualified, having undertaken Safeguarding Children workshops and have full CRB checks and current First Aid certificates.

We are very proud of this acheivement as we are the first club in Cambourne to achieve such a status. We hope that this award will attract players to our club who can be confident of getting some good training in a safe and fun environment.

We are now pushing for expansion, growth and development to further the success of the last few years.

Thanks go to our club secretary, Tracey Ashford for putting in the hard work to gain this status.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
